Google Day #2

Goals:
-Find out how to get a profit from a server?
-Watch tutorial of how different mods can be downloaded, and what they change?
- Find out of stats or polls that show the interest of the "online gamers" in types of maps we plan to ma;e.



How to profit from a server HERE
 This article and most of the articles about the topic talk about how the only real way to make a profit is through donations;however, making a server big enough to get a large amount of donations is very expensive.  in general owners of servers are losing money.

Video of a mod HERE
the mod shows a completely different thing from what normally appears in the game.  some of those things are objects, types of mountains, building materials, that don't exist in the original.  they talk about how installing the mod is very difficult, because it has a lot of mods and so is to use the features of the mod.  its interesting how the mod makes the game more realistic, for example you need to give the planes fuel which first you need to find coal for it to work.  How ever at the end of the video i learned that mods cannot be used in online servers we will not be able to use it in our server if we decide it to put it online.

I learned from the forum that the way most of the maps work is that you put them on the page and then someone downloads them.  if they like it they can contact you or give you a donation to make more.
  today I learned a lot about mods even tough i was disappointed to see that I really cant use them if we plan to make the server online, also i learned that servers aren't the most profitable "business"



for next class I would like to learn how both of us can work on the same serer without using the same computer.


        

YouTube Quiz Feature

The purpose of the site is to create more interactive videos.  People can make quizzes that can work for educational purposes.  It adds questions to the YouTube videos, making it easier for people to know if the viewer is actually paying attention.   

This feature allows you to ask question in a YouTube video where you choose when you want it to appear, and you choose the answers.   You can use the feature when you are editing your video on the edit bar.  After you have a video uploaded with the questions you can see the summary of the answers that your viewers made through the analytic s page.

If another student is making a quiz or a type of review for an exam like vocabulary they could use this for reviewing.  Or if they are making a very long video they can put some questions to make it a bit more entertaining or even make a kind of quiz game for the class.

DIGITAL NATION

1.        I agree when they say that technology and internet has changed aspects like the air force because now they have drones and it isn't necessary for the pilot to be on the plane he can be in a safe location.

2.       I agree when they say that students are now usually looking on screens all the time because we can see that in our school now and days were even teachers send homework on email.

3.       I disagree when they say that it is a disservice using computers in class, because I feel that they are very effective as a teaching method I think it depends more on the teacher.

4.       I agree when they say that you cannot multitask because I have tried and I realized that I usually just pay more attention to one thing, however sometimes I feel I can.

5.       I agree that it is more effective to work on a task and only concentrating on that task because I’ve noticed that I write better and more effectively when I’m only writing, not on Facebook or YouTube. 

6.       I agree with how they say that video games can be addictive because I have cousins that are addicted and they just can’t stop playing.

7.       I agree that playing computer games affects your grades because I noticed that my cousins that play a lot of video games have worse grades.

8.       I disagree that it affects with how you communicate with your parents because I feel that whenever I play video games that doesn't make it for me harder to talk to m mom.

9.       I agree that kids seem to have natural ability for technology because I have tried to teach my grandmother how to use a computer and things that are so easy for me are difficult to her.

10.   I agree that technology is very important for the future because most jobs require a good use of technology.

11.   I agree that computers can help kids in their academic classes because I noticed it last year that we were allowed to use more technology.

12.   I disagree with the principal seeing the kids in stuff like photo booth because that is like an invasion to their privacy.

13.   I disagree that we are a dumber generation I think that we just learn differently and are better in different areas.

14.   I agree that there are now new learning because of technology is much more incorporated especially to elementary and primary school.

15.   I agree that everyone suffers from distraction because there are just so many options and things to see all the time on the internet.

16.   I agree that there are people that need to be more open minded, because the whole world is advancing so even if something’s are lost we will get new stuff also.

17.    I agree that if you can’t keep up with the internet for whatever reason you are left behind because I noticed for example my grandmother cannot use the internet or check email.

18.   I agree that people do exaggerate in those massive online games because I have known people that are completely different once they get into one of those games.

19.   I agree but I found it surprising at the same time to see how much people consider people they have played with friends like if they had known them their whole lives. 

20.   I disagree that teachers feel that they cannot assign long books projects because I have been assigned them recently and I also read the book.
